Sarah Anderson (b. 1982) is a Brooklyn-based visual artist who was born in Chicago, IL. She visited La Escuelita for a residency in February of 2015.
“On cold lonely days I think of the time at La Escuelita I spent in their sun drenched space that I shared with the tremendous community they cultivate and smile. What a wonderful and lasting advantage it is to have a space and support group gifted to you for the benefit of your art making practice.”
Her practice engages a variety of mediums, working into the correspondence between sculpture, video and text. Her solo exhibitions include My Cannibal, Sensei Gallery, New York, NY (2014) and The Fist and the Whale, Sensei Gallery, New York, NY (2013). Her group exhibitions include The Immediate Female, Judith Charles Gallery, New York, NY (2015); Surf Club, Vox Populi, Philadelphia, PA (2015) and Sex Without Bodies, Temporary Agency, Brooklyn, NY (2014). She was an artist-in-residence at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Skowhegan ME (2012) and the Vermont Studio Center, Johnson, VT (2007 & 2010).
